A devotional inspired by today’s sermon

There’s a truth that quietly echoes through every human life—whether we realize it or not:
Our souls are too big for anything in this world to satisfy.
We spend so much of our lives searching. Searching for peace, fulfillment, love, purpose. We try to fill that space with relationships, success, validation, routines… but something always feels incomplete.
Why?
Because nothing can satisfy us except God Himself.
🕊️ The Order of Life
There is a divine order to how we were created to live:
God’s Spirit → our spirit → our soul → our body
When God is leading, everything else falls into alignment. But when that order is reversed—when our body or emotions lead—we experience confusion, emptiness, and instability.
“The right order of life is when the Spirit of God controls you.”
Your body is full of desires.
Your soul holds your emotions, thoughts, and will.
But your spirit is where God speaks.
If we allow our body or even our emotions to lead, we can easily be deceived. But when we are led by God’s Spirit, we walk in truth.
👁️ Spiritual Blindness
Spiritual blindness isn’t just not knowing—it’s not seeing from God’s perspective.
You can be intelligent, successful, and still spiritually blind.
“No matter your pedigree, your mind cannot understand the mind of God without revelation.”
This is why we must stay connected to God. Without Him, we interpret life through feelings, culture, or desire. But with Him, we gain clarity, discernment, and truth.
💔 When the Soul Leads Without God
When we are not connected to God:
Our souls begin to lead
Our desires take control
Our bodies follow
And we drift further from truth
This is where confusion, anxiety, and emptiness grow.
“Your body isn’t where happiness is—joy and peace live in your soul.”
But even deeper than that—true peace comes when your soul is submitted to God.
❤️ You Were Created for More
God placed something eternal inside of you.
“He put eternity in our hearts.”
Animals live by instinct.
But humans? We were given the ability to:
Love deeply
Reason and reflect
Choose purpose over impulse
You weren’t created just to exist—you were created to connect with God.
✝️ The Turning Point: Surrender
The truth is simple, but not always easy:
“Nobody has found life if they haven’t fully surrendered to Jesus.”
Real life begins when we stop trying to lead ourselves.
When we deny ourselves, we don’t lose life—we find it.
When we surrender, we are no longer striving—we are covered, protected, and guided.
“Your life is hidden in Christ.”
🔥 What Is Sanctification?
Sanctification is not just behavior change.
It’s transformation.
It’s God working on every part of you—your thoughts, desires, habits, and identity.
To sanctify = to set apart as holy
This means:
You’re becoming someone new
Your desires begin to change
Your life starts reflecting God’s purpose
And it doesn’t happen overnight.
“God is working on every part of us until we are made whole.”
🧭 What Is Controlling Your Life?
At the end of it all, it comes down to this question:
What is governing your life?
There are three ways to live:
Being controlled by our bodies
→ led by desires, impulses, and cravings
Controlled by the soul
→ led by emotions, thoughts, and personal will
Led by the Spirit of God
→ guided by truth, purpose, and divine direction
Only one of these leads to true life.
🌿 Final Reflection
Your soul is valuable.
Your life has purpose.
And your longing for “more” is not random—it’s spiritual.
You were never meant to be satisfied by the world.
You were created to be fulfilled by God.
So if you feel empty… restless… or like something is missing—
That’s not a flaw.
That’s an invitation.
✨ Come back into alignment.
✨ Let God lead your life.
✨ And watch your soul come alive.
